A Year of Mental Health
with Chris Guillebeau
What It’s About
It’s time for something new: a project of self-discovery.
Whose project? Yours and mine.
I started writing here in 2024 to share my experience with ADHD and entrepreneurship, learning to understand neurodivergence, and what’s been particularly helpful for me (and what hasn’t).
I also share stories I’ve never told before. I’m not entirely sure how things will turn out, but I’m excited to keep going.
Writing for people who care is my most important work.
Who Is Chris Guillebeau?
A few of my accomplishments are below, but hold on: this project is NOT going to be about accomplishments. I’m going to share the rest of the story.
Still, readers appreciate a good About page / who is this person? section, so here you go:
So far I’ve written 9 books, 3 of which were worldwide bestsellers. The books have been translated into more than 30 languages, and one of my favorite things is hearing from readers around the world
I produce the daily podcast Side Hustle School (currently 3,000+ episodes and counting)
From 2002-2016 I visited every country in the world, 193/193
I’m the founder and host of NeuroDiversion, an annual celebration for neurodivergent adults
I also founded the World Domination Summit, a global gathering of awesome people held every summer for ten years in Portland, Oregon
Like I said, accomplishments are cool—but this series is going to be about everything that didn’t go well, and what I truly learned (am learning) along the way.
Expect it to be personal and candid, and look forward to tools/resources/ideas that will be helpful to you.
Subscription Options (Just one now!)
Subscribe … for free! Really, it’s okay.
Everything here is free—completely free, with no paid option.
When I was writing on a regular schedule, I had a paid tier, but now the whole project is open to everyone. Enjoy!
Some posts will be short, some longer, some will include activities and exercises that everyone can participate in. And of course, there will probably be some surprises along the way.
Read by email or directly on the site. If you prefer, you can also follow along in the Substack app:
If you want more of my work, you can subscribe at ChrisGuillebeau.com (I know, just what you need, right?).
Disclaimer
It’s the year of mental health, so does that mean you’re my therapist?
Great question! And it has a clear answer: absolutely not.
I’m going to share my personal story for those who are interested. Hopefully there will be some things that are helpful to you along the way.
But I’m not a professional (of any kind, ha) and I’m certainly not your therapist or doctor. Please consult with other people (actual professionals) for clinical help.
Want to Help? Share It!
That’s the #1 thing you can do, and I’m grateful. Please tell your friends and anyone else who might be interested. ⬇️
That’s pretty much it! Thanks for checking it out. The best is truly yet to come.
