Happy Monday, everyone! I hope youāve been well over there. š
I havenāt said anything publicly about this until now, but yesterday in a special online conversation with
, I mentioned my next book for the very first time.I figured it would only be fair to tell you about it as well, since the community that weāve been building here has been so awesome. So hereās what Iām up to:
Iām writing a book about TIME ANXIETY, and it will come out in early 2025.
Consider this a pre-announcement, because the book wonāt be out for 11 months, and itās not even available for pre-order anywhere yet. We have a long way to go until any sort of promotional phase kicks in.
Later in the year Iāll say more, but for nowāIām still writing and editing.
That said, if youād like to be part of the process (which would be awesome!), thereās something simple you can do. It will just take a few minutes of your time.

What Is Time Anxiety?
(This question is part of what Iām asking in the surveyāhow YOU experience time anxietyāso I donāt want to bias your answer. But for now, hereās a short description.)
Time anxiety is the fear of running out of time: both existentially and in the sense of day-by-day life. If youāve ever felt āThereās something I should be doing, but Iām not sure what it is or how to chooseāāthatās time anxiety.
There are also other forms of it, such as feeling too late for something, being chronically indecisive, and going through the day with a sense of low-grade angst or frustration.
A couple years ago, when I was in the early stages of research for this project, I did a different survey and taught an introductory course on the topic.Ā
What I learned during that process was truly fascinating. Iāve been doing reader surveys for almost two decades (!) and this one produced the most interesting results Iād ever seen.Ā
Itās been a while since the last time I checked in with readers on the topic, so I thought Iād āre-upā it for a new year.Ā
Therefore: hereās a new survey with a few updated questions. Most of them are fairly broad, because Iād like to know how time anxiety feels to you.Ā
SURVEY: 2024 Time Anxiety Survey
Of course, if you donāt have timeāI get it! I donāt want my survey about time anxiety to cause any distress. :)Ā
Coming up on Wednesday: if you always struggled to learn math, it might not be your fault.Ā
