Didn't find my passion, until I was 27th...and have been actively pursuing it for 64 years. I never get bored as there is constantly new information cropping up. it is Nutrition, which is a relatively new science. Unfortunately, the government and its focus on promoting industry got in the middle. It permitted a profit-seeking industry to financially support and provide its 'research' to nutrition schools, in order to promote its products. Processed foods have little nutritional value, except calories. Food Industry information helped put America, 'behind the 8 ball' and win the title "Most obese people in the world."

Indeed yes, the processed food makers, manipulating food with many types of fats and sugars; our taste buds will now accept nothing with lower fat and sugar. For one year I followed a nutritarian diet, lost fat and my bloodwork was fantastic... I am going back to that, though it is challenging, immersed in our culture...

If you think skull & crossbones , poison, when you feel like eating something you know is not healthy...it may help.I did it long ago, with sugar and other processed items (not real natural food)...and it took away my desire for it.

Thank you for that inspirational message 🫶

Btw: these are not toothpicks on the picture, but a game called Mikado which originated from Japan or China, in the 17th century.

I am definitely a generalist and I think that’s why I chose “musings by mika” for my Substack publication name (against recommendations by marketing experts) because I wanted to have the freedom to take twists and turns in my writing. ☺️

This is me to a "T". I am always going down rabbit holes, finding new interests, and bouncing around. As you said, I have accepted that I will never be a "master" of anything. I am good at some things, but a master of none, and a total amateur at many things. I use the metaphor that I am like a dog with its nose close to the ground. Every new smell pulls him in another direction, and since dogs seem to be happy animals all the time, and so am I, we are in good company :)

Chris, you might as well have been writing about me. At 67 I've been through MANY different jobs with different companies. I've also had many different outside interests, some of which became jobs, like performing. I've realized that I am not as successful as I could have been financially (becoming a civil servant, for example), but I've had many interesting experiences and met some interesting people. Overall, my life is ok right now and, politics and cultural b.s. notwithstanding, I don't have a lot of regret for my past.

Focus and stability are about control. But eventually that is not a winning strategy. Yes focus is important to get any traction. But the best strategy is adaptability. Because everything in life is in motion and not always perfectly synchronized to your agenda.
